Join student builders, founders, designers, and engineers for the 0–1 Hackathon 2026, a competition focused on turning ideas into working products. Whether you're interested in AI, software, startups, product design, or entrepreneurship, this is your opportunity to build alongside talented students, meet professionals, and compete for cash prizes.
Event Dates: Registration Close: September 22nd at 11:59PM. Kickoff: Friday, September 25 at 6:00 PM at Health Sciences Education Center 3-110. Build Period: September 25 at 7:00 PM - September 28 at 6:00 PM. Build Submission Deadline: September 28th at 6:00 PM. Office Hours: September 26th at 11:00 am - 1:00 pm in the toaster. Final Presentations & Awards: Tuesday, September 29 at 6:00 PM at Keller Hall 3-230.
Team Requirements: Teams of 2–5 students. Register with a team or find teammates through their slack community. Open to all college students. Prize eligibility is limited to University of Minnesota students.
Prizes: 1st Place: $1,000, Audience Vote: $250.
What You'll Build: Participants will develop a working prototype, product, or application hosted online (lovable or other URLs) over the course of the hackathon. Lovable credits will be provided. Projects may leverage: AI tools and APIs, open-source software, public datasets, sponsor technologies, and no-code and low-code tools. The official prompt and judging criteria will be announced during kickoff.
Judging and DemoDay: All teams must submit a project. The Top 7 teams will be selected to pitch live at Demo Day in front of judges, sponsors, recruiters, and the broader University community. Everyone is welcome to attend Demo Day, watch, and vote on presentations.
Submission Requirements: Teams must submit a prototype link and a presentation to explain their project/prototype. If your team is selected to present you should come prepared with a pitch deck for DemoDay. Additional details will be shared to those advancing.
