Agents, Everywhere: Bots, Channels, & More — Global Hackathon. A global hackathon with OpenAI, CopilotKit, and OpenRouter. On Saturday, September 12, AI Tinkerers cities around the world are joining one shared build day. Build an agent for a place people already work, talk, and live, then make it meaningfully more useful because of that context.

Event details: Date Saturday, September 12, 2026. Time 10 a.m.–5 p.m. local time. Location shared upon acceptance. Format: focused local build day, connected to one global challenge. Food and drinks provided.

The challenge: Most agents still wait inside a separate chat window. This build day starts from a different premise: the most useful agents will show up inside the tools, channels, devices, and environments where people already have work to do. Build a working agent that belongs somewhere new. Your project might live: At work (Slack, Teams, email, documents, calendars, tickets, support, or live collaboration), In your pocket (messaging, mobile, notifications, and short asynchronous moments), On the web (browsers and software where an agent can research, navigate, transact, or take action), In the room (voice, vision, wearables, robotics, and other physical-world interfaces). These are examples, not separate tracks. Every team around the world enters the same global submission pool.

The day: 10:00 Doors, food, check-in, & meeting potential teammates. 10:30 Shared global opening and starter-kit walkthrough. 11:00 Team formation. 11:15 Build session. 15:30 Local show-and-tell. 16:30–17:00 Submit and wrap. Local demos are for sharing work and learning from the room. There is no formal local judging.

Your build stack: OpenAI and the event partners will provide shared starter materials, technical resources, and builder credits/offers where available. They will share the final starter repo and access details ahead of the event. You do not need to use every tool in the stack. Choose the resources that make your idea better. More starter materials, technical resources, sponsor offers, and event details will be added as they are finalized.

What every team submits: Before the event ends, every team submits a Title (a clear name for the project), a written description (what you built, who it is for, and why the context matters), a public GitHub repository (working code that can be reviewed and learned from), a two-minute video (a concise demo of the project in action), and a social post (a public post about the project that tags the event sponsors). Build something that can be shown. A sharp, working demo beats a broad concept.

Global review and prizes: Every eligible project from every participating city goes into one global review process. The final judging rubric, prize categories, and award details will be shared with builders before the event.

Who should come: This is a builders-only AI Tinkerers event, and attendance is by application only. It is for engineers, technical founders, researchers, and designers who build and are ready to spend the day shipping a working prototype. Come with a team, come solo, or find collaborators at the event. Apply to join. Space is limited in each city.

Global sponsors include OpenAI (an AI research and deployment company whose mission is to ensure that artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity), CopilotKit (the Agentic Application Platform, an open-source framework and cloud platform for building and operating production-grade agentic applications), and OpenRouter (an AI gateway and model marketplace offering a unified interface for hundreds of models across multiple providers). Many more global partners will be joining the event.

Developer Infrastructure Partners include Exa (search infrastructure for AI applications), Trigger.dev (an open-source background jobs framework for building reliable workflows in plain async code), Auth0 (an identity platform for developers providing authentication and authorization infrastructure), and Mozilla.ai (open-source AI tools and infrastructure designed for trustworthy, transparent, and controllable AI applications).
