about this event
The next computer isn't on your desk or in your pocket. It's around your neck, listening, remembering, and helping. Join localhost:nyc for a one-day, in-person hackathon where NYC's best builders get their hands on AI necklaces and build apps and agents that make always-on AI useful.
Problem Statement: AI wearables can capture everything you hear and say, but most of that context goes unused. Your challenge: build an app, agent, or experience for an AI necklace that turns that context into something that makes someone's day better.
The Challenge Theme: - Memory on demand ("what did my landlord say about the lease?") - Meeting copilots: action items, follow-ups, CRM updates handled for you - Social superpowers: remember names and context from everyone you meet - Health, wellbeing, and habit nudges - Learning: language practice, lecture capture, personal tutors - Agent actions: the necklace hears it, an agent does it
What to Expect: - Hands-on time with Omi AI necklaces and a live demo of the Omi developer platform - A full day of building with the device, SDK, and AI tooling - Small teams or solo builders (your choice, we'll match you if you need a team) - Mentors from Omi on the floor all day - Live demos at the end to pitch, get feedback, and get visibility - Mixer time to meet collaborators, co-founders, and future teammates
Prizes: TBD Judges: TBD
Who Should Attend: - Founders and aspiring founders in AI and consumer hardware - Engineers (full stack, mobile, AI/ML, embedded) - Designers who think about voice and ambient interfaces - Anyone who's ever wished they could remember every conversation You don't need hardware experience. Just show up ready to build.
Sponsors: Omi — the open-source AI wearable that captures your conversations and turns them into memories, summaries, and actions — is providing devices and developer support. [Sponsor TBD: reach out to partner@localhostnyc.com to sponsor]
Hosts: Somya Gupta — the face of the NYC startup ecosystem.
