about this event
Colorado AI Summit: Student Build-A-Thon — Register Today to Build, Create, and Shape the Future of AI. This event is supported by LEGO Education and PlayLab.
Join Colorado Education Initiative (CEI) and St. Vrain Valley Schools for the Colorado AI Summit: Student Build-A-Thon on Saturday, October 10, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. During this FREE event, students ages 13+ will engage in a fast-paced day of imagining, building, testing, and sharing with AI.
Students will kick things off using the new Computer Science AI LEGO kit to physically build a fun challenge with block coding and LEGO bricks. From there, students can choose to work independently or as part of a team and choose a real-world challenge in one of three areas: entertainment, mental health and wellbeing, and smart communities — or they can choose their own idea.
Students will learn just enough about how generative AI works to start building, then spend the day creating, testing, improving, and sharing what they made.
Students will leave with: An app they can keep iterating on; a free six-month Playlab membership to continue building; a free individual LEGO basic kit to take home; and new connections with other young people excited to create with AI.
For Parents and Caregivers: Join us for an Optional Seminar. You're invited to attend a free seminar hosted by aiEDU, a national nonprofit focused on AI literacy and AI readiness for every student, held at the Innovation Center from 10:15–11:30 a.m. This seminar, AI Readiness for Community, will introduce families to what AI is in plain language, where it shows up in daily life, and the difference between using AI as a tool versus letting it do the work. Please check the box on the registration form to attend this seminar.
